Fiberoptic facades, generative machines, green washes, artificially intelligent friends and optimistic dystopias characterize the exploration of Iconic Buildings for a Future Society. Does a building start as an icon of a society or does it become one through its relationship to its society over time? How can an existing city be redefined for the future? A project as a cultural investigation has resulted in one that challenges and interrogates the future of urban city planning. “The New deal” is born from such conflict. It is the place where people from both sides could meet with each other, exchange their culture and ideas, creating a binational third place, a society which has maximum democracy and freedom as well as the minimum inequality.

Concept

It is the place where people from both sides could meet with each other, exchange their culture and ideas, creating a binational third place, a society which has maximum democracy and freedom as well as the minimum inequality.

Program Study

A single line on the map can transform the way we see and experience the world. the two side places may go differently.
The wall is cutting through people’s lives, cutting through public lands, cities, universities and neighborhoods. The wall is cutting through people’s lives, cutting through public lands, cities, universities and neighborhoods. With its main structure and derived system lines, this building can makes two side (people, resources, cities) reunited physically and psychologically. It is the icon that represent the collapse of hierarchy.

For us, building the Wall to separate people is an undemocratic approach. This political action reflects the bureaucratic and hierarchical structure we all face in today’s modern society. So, can we have a society that has maximum democracy and freedom, minimum socioeconomic inequality? Can we create a public space where people from both sides could meet with each other, exchange their culture and ideas, creating a binational third place? with such New design methods, it led to new ideas of building methods through destructive construction of transportation, education, housing, infrastructure, culture, and climate design reform in the production of a new unique and cohesive city plan.

Program Study - 0'0'' Green Observatory

The more high-tech our lives become, the more nature we need. Nature brings our senses alive, builds community bonds, reduces human depression, and improves psychological well beings. The future of our natural world is at stake. A new strategy for new city planning is critically important. The floating island is the 0-mile milestone for generating Green Corridor. This place is not only the origin to create the green and energy corridor, but also the icon that represent the freedom out of the wall by its jumping gesture. Meanwhile, the space below the prospect deck is the binational library splace for people to read and relax.

Program Study - Transfer Center

Under the floating island is the distribution center area, people enter the building through three large legs with capsules to this Binational Third Place, which are also the only way to enter this building. In this way, this new platform is also the replacement of original Friendship Park for people to first meet. From here, they can either take a lift to the floating forest to explore the natural world or walk to other public spaces like binational theaters, galleries, libraries, and recreational areas, etc. Meanwhile, without entering the building, it is place that can let them short stay and have a higher view towards their two side cities.

Program Study - Theater Platform

The conventional box-like auditorium and balconies imply social hierarchies within the audience so that spatial segregation is minimized in this binational theater design. The interior is a composition of undulating and angled forms which transformed from the outside leaves, symbolizing musical movement as well as freedom.

Program Study - Robotic Green Terminal

The green production center is located in the back part of the whole structure, which combines many new technological innovations such as robotics labs, indoor vertical farms, etc. The production center is also the point of departure for Hyperloop transportation, which extends to the city area.

Program Study - Recreation

A fascinating, moving part will depart from the main structure moving along through the border, eating the Wall and other materials, recycling them into engineered-new products. The architecture itself has become a big robot that plays a part in the construction process of future city planning, synthesizing nature, and architecture with advanced technologies. This new approach will allow us to design and plan our habitats to produce ecosystem services rather than depleting them. It is time to give back nature instead of taking from nature!

The proposed building is not only a new way to look at architecture but a new approach to solving our urgent environmental issues. The research has shown construction and demolition materials constitute a significant waste stream now. These various C&D materials can be diverted from disposal and managed into new productive uses.

The moving part along a strategically planned, elevated pathway is the main structure to respond to this new urban planning strategy. Taking old materials from the site, recycling the wastes, printing new and exciting infrastructures is the goal. The Wall will be taking down; a green & energy corridor will emerge to our world.
